Free Pick: Fresno State Bulldogs -3
The last time these two teams played Arizona State came away with the win, 26-7. The public seems to be leaning that way again this time around with 62% of cash currently on the Sun Devils. It could also be partly due to the fact that Arizona State has now won four of their last five games, including a crazy 41-40 victory over their rival Arizona. Whatever it may be, I’m not really buying it. Fresno State knocked off Boise State in overtime, 19-16, to claim the Mountain West title on Saturday. Coach Jeff Tedford has led a program that won just once in 2016 to back-to-back 10-win seasons. The big money appears to be coming in on Fesno here as well. Although 62% of cash is on the Sun Devils, the Bulldogs have still managed to move up a point and now sit at -4 as compared to the -3 they opened at. When placing my wager I bought the point which is why I have it listed at -3 here.
The top player for Arizona State entering this game is RB Eno Benjamin with 1,524 yards rushing and 15 touchdowns. On the other side it would be QB Marcus McMaryion with 3,453 yards passing and 25 touchdowns. Arizona State has 30 bowl games under their belt and this will be their second Las Vegas Bowl appearance. Fresno State has played 23 bowl games with this being their third Las Vegas Bowl appearance. It should be an excellent game, but the big money appears to be on the Bulldogs so I’m buying the point and going with Fresno State.
